Lakeside Gardens was created 20 years ago for the initial purpose of demonstrating that a better, more personal care can be given to those you love during their time of changing needs. We have fulfilled this goal and continue to make it our daily purpose.

Beautiful location

First of all, we strategically chose NOT to locate the facility in the center of town with the crowded buildings and busy street just out the window. Instead we chose a location in one of the loveliest parts of the county, on Wiser Lake (within 7 miles from all the major Whatcom county population areas (Bellingham, Ferndale, Lynden, Blaine, and Everson). It was essential to us that we chose the location that would be best enhance your loved one’s life, not ours. (view beautiful location). We then purchased enough surrounding property to create a 1 1/2 acre garden oasis for your loved one’s pleasure. Come in the summer and see the thousands of flowers beautifully blooming for our residents. We take your family member’s happiness very seriously.

Designed exclusively for only 6 resident guests to be able to provide the best care, and to enhance your family intimacy while visiting.

None of us like to be just a number in in a crowd, so we designed our facility inside an intimate and cheerful lakeside house where a limited number of guests reside and get the preferential help they need. Being a small facility, we’re able to deliver care as needed and have a superior ratio of caregivers to guests of between 1 to 1 and 1 to 6 at all times instead of the standard of around 1 to 12 up to 1 to 20.

Personal, not Institutional Care
Our care is personalized for each and every resident, not institutionalized! Darla Laughlin, the manager, (see bio) isn’t satisfied with standard care and will constantly work with your loved ones doctors and therapists, until your family member attains the best health possible for their situation.

The same personal attention is also applied for activities for our resident guests. While we have outings and exercise, as other places do, we have a personal activities director that facilitates the personal interests of each of our guests. (client stories illustrating our personal care strategy)
